The Dallas Cowboys may have escaped the constant media attention at the start of the offseason, but they have been under the spotlight since the contract situation of its star players became too much of a crisis. They are under immense pressure to handle the contract situation as well as ensure the smooth run of the organization.
Not much to everyone’s surprise, when Jerry Jones addressed the media on the opening day of the training camp, he once again claimed that the Cowboys are “all in” to handle all front office issues and even said the next extensions of CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott, and Micah Parsons is likely to take up to 70% of the Cowboys payroll.
However, now it appears former Cowboys wide receiver and now-analyst Keyshawn Johnson is fed up with hearing Jones only talk with no action followed by it. During the recent episode of Undisputed, Johnson asserted that he is not taking Jones seriously anymore.
What he [Jerry Jones] has decided to do at the end of the season was used the words, ‘all in,’ so it ignited the mindsets of Skip Bayless and Michael Irvins of the world to think that they are getting reading to go out there and spend record-breaking, free agent contract money.Keyshawn Johnson said
Johnson claimed that the goal of the Cowboys owner is not to get his star players their deserving contracts but to eliminate the fact that they haven’t been to the NFC championship game in nearly 30 years.
Cowboys hold all the leverage in contract negotiations with star players
While talking about Jones and his “all in” statement, Johnson further interpreted his words saying the Cowboys have all the leverage in the contract negotiation regardless of what is being said in the media. He will only pay his star players when they bring him the results and that is bringing in the Super Bowl trophy or at least advancing to the game.
He’s not giving another dime to anybody anytime soon so let’s getty up, let’s get going, and let’s try to win some games. That’s what he is saying. He will address your contracts when you take care of business. He is done paying y’all a**es.Keyshawn Johnson added
The former NFL player said sooner or later, wide receiver Lamb will get back into the team even without an extension as Jones certainly isn’t going to pay until the Cowboys reach the NFC championship game in the playoffs.
