Ex-UFC lightweight legend Khabib Nurmagomedov has been the epitome of the Dagestani MMA culture. His rigor as a devout Muslim, paired with his training, has also been one to behold. As such, Nurmagomedov retains a certain amount of gravitas even after retirement. One factoid where he still makes a large enough scene every year is celebrating Eid al-Fitr.

This 2025 season went pretty much the same. Nurmagomedov went viral earlier for distributing sweets to kids on the occasion of Eid. In a sport with signature violence, it’s heartwarming to see fighters act the exact opposite outside. Something that Nurmagomedov does a lot.

He does the same every year. The former UFC fighter posted an IG snap with two boys, presumably family, last year. Current UFC 170-pound champ Belal Muhammad was among the early birds to wish him on the same.

Palestinian-American Muhammad is a new acquaintance to the Team Khabib and Team AKA lineup; the Valle Flow Striking team fighter had ‘Eagle’ in his corner before his PPV main event at Co-op Live in Manchester last July. Khabib also advised him en route to his second-round TKO over Sean Bady. Another name who often wished Nurmagomedov well on days like Eid al-Fitr is manager Ali Abdelaziz.

Abdelaziz often even also douses a yearly championship anniversary (April 7th) right around this time to celebrate Khabib’s win over Al Iaquinta at UFC 223. All in all, Khabib always goes viral this time of the year. ‘Anatomy of a Fighter’ once even documented his routine during this phase.

In the sport of blood, his sportsmanship spirit and that of giving have always been one to look to. Khabib, during Eid al-Fitr, is a reminder that every person outside the scope of combat sports is still just human.

Fight fans react to Khabib’s Eid al-Fitr footage

Many fighters are widely infamous for their crass talent and ability to hold on to smack talk and take the rivalry to a length. But Khabib was always different. He has gone viral many times, calling for a truce on the biggest of issues.

Additionally, he is also widely popular with fans. Here is what some of them think about him interacting with kids during Eid al-Fitr:

Khabib Nurmagomedov shares five-word reaction after Palestine death toll soars in last 120 hours

Over the past few years, the longstanding conflict between Israel and Palestine has reignited, thus resulting in thousands of deaths. Khabib Nurmagomedov sent a message of support recently for Palestine, following recent reports of a spike in the death toll in Gaza.

The ongoing violence has garnered worldwide media attention, with many calling for a ceasefire to be reached. Many in the UFC/MMA spectrum have done much the same. Former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, a devout Muslim, reposted an IG story claiming that over a thousand more people were killed in the Palestinian territory of Gaza this week.

Nurmagomedov isn’t the only UFC-affiliated figure to publicly voice support. UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad, who was born to Palestinian parents, has repeatedly called for peace in the Gaza Strip. A part of the PCRF (Palestine Children’s Relief Fund), the UFC 170-pound champ and his efforts often go viral. He even squabbles with numerous other peers on the issue.

Muhammad has often gotten support from Team Khabib on this. Based on Motaz Azaiza’s viral snap, Team Palestine 4 PCRF NonprofitPCRF-Palestine Children’s Relief Fund imported a kid during the wartime scenario. UFC 304 Countdown saw Muhammad help the kid get rehabilitated stateside. He himself fights out of Southside Chicago now.

PCRF also links in to Toronto-based clothing brand Peace Collective and has the help of a handful of UFC/MMA names. As such, the Israel-Palestine global theater of war remains as big a blemish as ever. Nurmagomedov and many others thus often voice their thoughts on it, calling for it to end.
