Khabib’s kryptonite Mark Madsen hopes to become UFC Champion following ‘The Eagle’s’ retirement
Mark Madsen is the Silver Medalist of the 2016 Rio Olympics and 4 times World Championship Silver Medalist Wrestler. Madsen made his UFC debut on UFC Fight Night on September 28th, 2019 in a fight against Danillo Belluardo. He won this fight with a TKO and made an announcement that he has stepped into UFC.
At UFC 248 Madsen made an unbelievable achievement. In his fight against Austin Habbard, he fought with a broken jaw and surprisingly won this fight by unanimous decision at the end of the match. The fighter is popular on the internet by the name of Khabib’s kryptonite because of his impressive record in wrestling.
In a recent interview with Talksport about his Olympic medal he says, “Coming back from that loss, which I called a disaster, was hard. Yet winning the Olympic medal at the 2016 Games in Rio was a major feeling of accomplishment and I just felt satisfaction.”
“I was the first Dane to win a medal in eight years, so it was a major accomplishment for me as an athlete, but as well for my family and my coaches and wrestling in general in Denmark”.
Madsen wants to win the UFC Title
Following the retirement of Khabib Nurmagomedov, Khabib’s kryptonite Madsen wants to catch the eye of Dana White so that he gets his title shot. He says, “The UFC is the equivalent of what the Olympics is for wrestling. You can dream of reaching the Olympics, but you have to qualify for that. It’s really hard to plan to join the UFC, but the UFC has been a dream”.
“So winning that medal at the Olympics kind of fulfilled my dream in wrestling, it made me think I’ve completed the mission there. Now it’s time to move on. Danish MMA is developing but, at the time I decided to join MMA in Denmark it was young, and it still is young.”
He also added, “I’m going to be a real problem for any opponent standing across with me in the cage, I’m ready to go and I’ve been accumulating a lot of training and a lot of knowledge.” The wrestler holds a record of 10-0 in MMA in the future he is looking forward to making a name for himself even bigger than “The Eagle”.
