Despite winning the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cincinnati Bengals’ hopes for a playoff run were dashed this week, resulting in their official elimination from the playoff contention. And if there’s anyone happy about it, it’s Khalen Saunders

With a victory against the Steelers, the Bengals also needed a Denver Broncos loss at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs, which surprisingly ended at 38-0 in favor of Broncos. Since the reigning two-time Super Bowl defending champions had already clinched the top spot in the conference with a playoff berth, they decided to rest their starters.

Unfortunately, the pundits attributed head coach Andy Reid’s decision to sit the starters as an attempt to prevent Joe Burrow and the Bengals from qualifying for the playoffs. The Broncos’ victory resulted in the Bengals’ elimination despite the best attempt by Burrow to advance to the postseason while leading the league in yards and touchdowns.

Khalen Saunders relishes Bengals’ playoff elimination amid accusations of sabotage

As the Bengals fans continue to vent out their frustration towards the Chiefs, accusing them of sabotaging their playoff hopes, two-time Super Bowl champion Saunders is quite enjoying the miserable condition of the team from Cincinnati. Saunders may not be with the Chiefs anymore, but he hasn’t forgotten the rivalry with the Bengals and he continues adding more spice to it despite joining the New Orleans Saints last offseason.

Don’t forget Burrowehad. That was my favorite one. I love watching the Bengals fail.

Khalen Saunders wrote as a caption to a tweet he reposted on X

Saunders shared a tweet highlighting the long-standing rivalry between the Chiefs and the Bengals, and the change in tone from the Bengals’ fanbase expressing confidence in 2020-2021 to blaming the Chiefs for a defensive stance after the poor season that brought him to the point where they had to depend on another team’s loss to earn a playoff spot.

Despite Burrow being the NFL leader in yards and touchdowns, the Bengals’ regular season was plagued with inconsistency. The debate over who is to blame for Burrow’s missed opportunity at the NFL MVP award has been polarized.

Many argued that the Bengals’ shortcomings hindered the quarterback’s chances of winning the prestigious title for the first time in his life, while others have criticized his ability to deliver effective results for the team.
