Khamzat Chimaev fires back at Israel Adesanya’s ‘rat lip’ comment
Khamzat Chimaev and Israel Adesanya

While the entire MMA World is appreciating UFC’s hottest prospect, Khamzat Chimaev. Middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya had some disapproving things to say about “Borz,” quoting him rat lip and stating that they hype is unwarranted since he’s yet to defeat anyone worthy of praise. As Adesanya defends his title for the second time, this time against Paulo Costa at UFC 253, Khamzat Chimaev has already set his eyes on the former regardless of the outcome.

Chimaev has bounced around from Welterweight to Middleweight through his career, with four coming at 170 pounds, four at 185 pounds and the other at catchweight of 175 pounds. It’s that versatility that prompted former UFC champ-champ Daniel Cormier to proclaim that Chimaev would be the next person to hold two titles simultaneously for the promotion.

Chimaev, who improved to 3-0 in just 66 days as a UFC fighter when he stopped Gerald Meerschaert in 17 seconds earlier this month in Las Vegas, vowed to one day “stop” both UFC champions Kamaru Usman and Adesanya.

When Israel Adesanya said he does not even know the guy, referring to him as “the rat lip,” that appeared to have struck a nerve with the undefeated Russian prospect.

“What do you said about me,” Chimaev wrote on social media, “it will cost you your belt, if you’re still the champion. Good luck.”

Adesanya is unbeaten in eight UFC appearances since Feb. 2018, said on a media day Wednesday in Abu Dhabi that he’s not looking past Costa, but expects his next title defence to be against Jared Cannonier should he beat Robert Whittaker on October 24.
