Khamzat Chimaev looking for a possible UFC return in June as he heads to Vegas for treatment

Russian Fighter Khamzat Chimaev was pulled back from the fight against Jamaican fighter, Leon Edwards. Chimaev was forced to call off the fight as the Russian was affected by the Coronavirus. The fighter reportedly came down with the virus last December.
Khamzat and Chimaev were all set to fight each other for UFC Vegas 21 on March 13. But the matchup has been scrapped off since Chimaev is still suffering issues with the virus. The fight had great hype built around it and was very much looked forward to.
Khamzat has been undefeated in the promotion with a record of 9-0-0. The “Borz” last fight was against Gerald Meerscahert whom he knocked out. He is currently at the #14 ranking. Dana White finally scrapped off the fight to find Leon a new opponent. According to reports from ESPN, Khamzat is being flown to “Sin City”, Las Vegas to receive sincere medical attention and care. Chimaev’s manager hopes Khamzat can fight by June but health is a top priority right now.

Chimaev’s reputation and popularity seem to be rising as fight fans are eager to see him back in the Octagon. He was paired with one of the toughest fighters in the division, Edwards only for that fight to go down the drain.
The Russian striker first burst into the scene when he submitted John Phillips at Fight Island 1 in Abu Dhabi. 10 days later he took out Rhys McKee in the first round.
His manager in a recent video submission said that Chimaev was eager to fight but they had to pull out since he was suffering badly. The manager shockingly revealed that “He thought he was going to die.” Fans and UFC viewers hope for the Russian’s speedy recovery and wish to see him in the Octagon soon.
