It looks like the UFC is planning to re-book Khamzat Chimaev vs Leon Edwards early next year – probably on the 20th of January. According to UFC President Dana White, the welterweight bout might take place in Fight Island, Abu Dhabi.

Khamzat Chimaev vs Leon Edwards was initially scheduled for the 19th of December, but it was scrapped due to Leon Edwards testing positive for the Coronavirus. The scrap meant that, “The Borz” Khamzat Chimaev had to wait even longer before his next fight; having fought three fights in the space of just two months, and even fighting twice within a span of 10 days.

Speaking of this to Aaron Bronsteter of TSN, Dana White all but confirmed that the fight would be rescheduled – early next year.

The conversation was as follows:

Aaron Bronsteter : You know, nothing’s been announced for the main event on the 20th (January), but if I guess it, will you tell me that I’m right?

Dana White :On the 20th, yeah!

Aaron Bronsteter: My guess is that you’re going to have Khamzat Chimaev vs Leon Edwards on the 20th – would make a lot of sense!

Dana White : Good guess!

Aaron Bronsteter:So, that’s what’s in the works for the particular main event?

Dana White: Yes!

Well, Leon Edwards vs Khamzat Chimaev is definitely a cracker of a contest. Leon Edwards is on an eight match win streak and he has never been knocked out in his career – something “The Borz” should be wary of. Khamzat, on the other hand, has a clean slate, with no losses to his name. He is currently 3-0 in the UFC and has devastated all the opponents he has faced so far!

Who do you think has the edge?
