Kid with Tyler Herro-mocking sign gets encouraged by Rockets star Amen Thompson igniting rivalry

Amen Thompson and Tyler Herro

The Miami Heat visited the Houston Rockets on December 29, 2024. It turned out to be a fiercely tough game that was played right down to the last second. Jowever, it became choppy at that point. Amen Thompson and Tyler Herro engaged in a brawl with less than 40 seconds left in regulation. During a Heat inbound attempt, Herro bumped into Thompson, and Thompson threw Herro to the ground in retaliation.

Now, a few weeks later, Thompson did not seem to get over the altercation. A Rockets fan carried a Tyler Herro mocking sign that read “Boo Tyler Herro,” which garnered Thompson’s attention. Not only did he sign the signboard but he also took a picture with it. This showcases that Thompson has not forgotten or is looking to bury the hatchet with Herro anytime soon.

Regarding their matchup, Both Thompson and Herro (along with one of their teammates) were removed from the game after the benches cleared. In the end, Herro and the Heat prevailed 104-100, and Herro finished with 27 points, six rebounds, and nine assists.

Although Herro has not yet responded to Thompson and the sign, doing so would probably intensify his animosity toward Thompson. Fans will have to wait until March to witness the matchup between the two young stars, as the Heat will host the Rockets on Friday, March 21. All eyes will be on the two players once they take to the court in March.

Tyler Herro mocked Amen Thompson and Rockets after heated altercation

Following the Miami Heat’s 104-100 victory over the Houston Rockets, Tyler Herro spoke about the confrontation with Amen Thompson. Herro maintained that there was no ill will between them in spite of the occurrence. Both players were removed in addition to Terry Rozier, Jalen Green, Rockets coach Ime Udoka, and assistant Ben Sullivan after Thompson shoved Herro to the ground during the altercation.

Just a physical game. [I] guess that’s what happens when someone’s scoring, throwing dimes, doing the whole thing. I’d get mad, too.

Tyler Herro told the reporters

Herro was proud that the Heat managed to pull off a significant victory without Jimmy Butler in the starting lineup. After losing to the Atlanta Hawks, they had a 16-14 season record after the win. The victory over a formidable foe like the Rockets was not overshadowed by the incident. Herro underlined how crucial it is that they keep getting better as the season progresses.
