Kike Hernandez and the Los Angeles Dodgers repeated as World Series champions on Saturday after defeating the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 7. Following their win, an MMA reporter took aim at the celebrations of the Dodgers. The outfielder would later blast him for his words.

The Dodgers found themselves in a troubling situation in Game 7 as they went 3-0 down in the 3rd inning through a 3-run home run from Bo Bichette. After the Dodgers made it a 3-2 game through 2 sacrifice flies, the Blue Jays extended their lead to 4-2 in the 6th inning.

The 2024 champions kicked started a comeback in the 8th inning. A solo home run from Max Muncy in the top of the 8th inning was followed by a home run by Miguel Rojas in the 9th inning that tied the game at 4-4.

A solo home run in the 11th inning from Will Smith gave them a 5-4 lead and turned the game on its head. The Dodgers held on to the lead and emerged as back-to-back champions with a 5-4 victory.

On Monday, the team would hold their 2nd successive victory parade. During the celebration in front of their fans, Kike Hernandez would go loose and drop some bold comments. He would even mock Drake and impersonate Conor McGregor.

MMA reporter Ariel Helwani did not like this. On “The Ariel Helwani Show“, the 43-year-old sounded off on the way the Dodgers celebrated and took an issue with it.

I thought the Dodgers looked like jacka****. I thought they embarrassed themselves. I mean, did you guys see some of this stuff? And then the Kike Hernández thing, did you guys see it? He quoted the famous Conor McGregor UFC 205 interview, ‘I apologize to no one,’ but the setup was just… he fumbled his way through it, if we’re being honest.

Kike Hernandez, who is highly active on social media, did not let this slide. He would clap back at the reporter and call him a “loser” in a comment under an Instagram post.

s*ck it @arielhelwani!! LOSER! 3-time WS Champ sounds better than ‘Triple Champ’?

Helwani would then counter back. The reporter brought up Hernandez’s “getting A on group project” comment and his read on Ernie Clement‘s fly ball.

The Dodgers star had hilariously admitted that he did not do much in the World Series but still emerged as the champion. After the insider’s comment, Hernandez replied again and claimed that he got him “good there.”

The 34-year-old had previously hit back at Sportnet’s analyst Caleb Joseph. The former MLB catcher expressed that the “better team” did not win the World Series.

In a post on Instagram, the utility man would pose with the Commissioner’s Trophy and claimed that he was “happy” that the better team did not win the World Series.

Kike Hernandez admitted that Dodgers did not play good in the World Series

The Dodgers got crushed 11-4 in Game 1 with a 9-run spot in the 6th inning, thanks to a pinch-hit grand slam from Addison Barger. In Games 4 and 5, they were blown away once again as the Blue Jays picked up important hits at the right times.

In the end, the Blue Jays outscored the Dodgers 34-26 in this Fall Classic. They even had more hits (75) compared to the Dodgers (53). Despite this, they ended up losing the series as they suffered late heartbreak in Game 7.

During an appearance on the On Base podcast with Mookie Betts, Hernandez nodded in agreement to his teammate’s claim that they never really got going in the series. The veteran outfielder went 16-for-64 in the postseason while batting at a .250 average. In the World Series, he went 5-for-28, hitting with a .179 average.

We did not play good and we won a World Series.

Following the World Series victory, Hernandez has become a free agent. It is expected that the Dodgers will likely re-sign him in the free agency market and bring him back for another year.
