Kim Clijsters
Back in 2020, tennis legend Kim Clijsters decided to come back to the WTA tour after retiring from the game for the second time. The Belgian had also announced her retirement in 2012. However, Clijsters’ return to top-level tennis has not been very promising.
The 37-year-old came back in Dubai last year and even played made her Grand Slam return at the US Open in 2020. Unfortunately, she couldn’t find any momentum on her return after experiencing early exits in the initial tournaments. Moreover, she even suffered an injury to her knee which has kept her away from the sport.
The four-time Grand Slam winner also shared her views on the challenges she is facing on Social Media “I knew this was going to be hard when I started this journey—and there have been challenges that have been out of my control. I’m not ready to quit, I’m going to keep pushing and see what’s possible.”
Clijsters will not play French Open and Wimbledon
Clijsters has not been seen this year on the clay and will miss the upcoming French Open and Wimbledon. However, the former US Open winner was seen spending quality time with her boys- Blake and Jack on the baseball field.
“It’s a different kind of clay and grass for me this year. It’s been a busy time with the family – I’m event learning a new sport with my boys,” Clijsters wrote this weekend on Twitter.
It is believed that Clijsters will only be seen in action in July later in the year, where she will take on Sloane Stephens in an exhibition at the ATP 250 event in Atlanta.
