The baseball season is up and running. This past Tuesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs kick-started the 2025 MLB season in Tokyo, Japan. During this, popular actress and media personality Kim Kardashian showed off her Takashi Murakami-styled Shohei Ohtani jersey in support of the two-way star. This has not sat down well with the fans.

At the moment, Ohtani is one of the most popular baseball stars on the planet. The Japanese international stardom grew even more last season as he made history while being the first member of the 50-50 club and winning the National League MVP and the World Series in his first season with the Dodgers.

Ohtani was the center of attention during this Tokyo Series as he returned home. After the first game, which saw his team win 4-1 with him having two hits, he admitted that he was nervous to play in front of the Japanese fans.

Kardashian would take to her Instagram stories to show her support for Ohtani. She would simply share an image of the jersey without any captions. Her story was later reposted by the official account of MLB on X.

The shirt designed by Fanatics, Complete, and Murakami featured the home colors of the Dodgers. The shirt featured No.17, the one Ohtani uses, and had pink flowers and petals on the back over it. The Chicago Cubs, on the other hand, had a similar design with a smiling sunflower with red and blue petals next to their crest.

MLB fans want Kim Kardashian to stay away from Shohei Ohtani

Shohei Ohtani has made a lot of fans with his impressive performances. Even some of the big A-listers are in awe of him. Following the Tokyo Series, Kim Kardashian came out in support of him. However, the MLB fans want her to stay away from him.

A reason why the fans do not want to do anything with Kardashian is due to the “Kardashian curse“. This term has been used by fans when a player’s performance starts to decline after Kardashian showered her support to them.

X users did not want this luck on Ohtani. While reacting to this development, some users wildly urged her to keep Ohtani’s name out of her mouth. Meanwhile, one user wrote, “Go curse another team“.

Check out that and some other reactions from X below:

A few weeks ago, the 44-year-old actress came under the spotlight after she expressed her desire to meet NBA star Luka Doncic, who was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers by the Dallas Mavericks. During that time, the NBA fans dropped some hilarious reactions and urged Doncic to stay away from her due to the “curse”.

Shohei Ohtani homered in Dodgers 6-3 win over Cubs in Game 2

After registering two hits in the first game, Shohei Ohtani sparked the crowd inside the Tokyo Dome with a home run in Game 2. His home run was one of the three dingers the Los Angeles Dodgers hit in an emphatic 6-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Ohtani almost started the game with a first-pitch home run off Justin Steele. His ball would lose power near the warning track and result in a flyout. In the fifth inning, he opened his home run account for the 2025 season. However, there was some controversy over this.

Ohtani would crush the ball to the right field. At first, it seemed the ball had bounced off the wall and was a double. The 30-year-old and the announcers themselves did not know whether it was a home run or not. The umpires would signal him to circle the bases.

Upon review it appeared that the ball hit the hand of a fan. The home run decision was upheld though and the Japanese star was credited with a home run which extended the team’s lead to 6-2 and even surprised him a little bit.

With a sweep in this series, the Dodgers will now return to the United States for a few more exhibition games against the Los Angeles Angels. After this, they will gear up for the traditional season opener against the Detroit Tigers on March 27.
