“Platinum” Mike Perry is the face of BKFC, evidenced by his resume with the promotion. Similarly, Conor McGregor is the face of MMA, especially the UFC. McGregor recently became a part owner of BKFC, and hours later, Perry knocked out Thiago Alves during the main event of the recent BKFC PPV.
Mike Perry’s knockout of Alves happened in the first minute of the first round. Alves could gather his wits after Perry knocked him out with a left hook. Now, MMA Junkie has released the disclosed pay for the event. Perry bagged a whooping $600k for his 60-second performance.
Considering the undisclosed remuneration, Perry would take home more than a million. Thiago Alves, Perry’s opponent, made a disclosed purse of $200k. Ben Rothwell with $150k, Mick Terrill and Lorenzo Hunt with $100k, and Todd Duffee with $85k are the other big earners on the PPV. Alfredo Angulo, Julian Lane, and Evgeny Kurdanov were the other fighters with a 5 figure payday.
The rest of the fighters on the card only had a 4 figure payday. Interestingly, Perry, Alves, Rothwell, and Duffee are UFC veterans who make more money now with BKFC than they ever made in the UFC. Nonetheless, with Conor McGregor as part owner, fighters could expect more. After all, the base pay in the UFC is $12k to win and $12k to show.
Mike Perry callouts ex-UFC fighters after brutal KO victory
Mike Perry has only fought five times under BKFC. He won all fights, among which 3 were accomplished MMA fighters. Perry won via finish against Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez, both ex-UFC champions. Moreover, he won via split decision against Michael “Venom” Page, ex-Bellator title challenger currently with the UFC.
Perry had a fiery callout in his post-fight speech after he knocked out Thiago Alves at BKFC: Knucklemania IV. In the speech, he called out two ex-UFC title challengers, Darren Till and Nate Diaz. Perry had earlier revealed Till’s reluctance to fight him despite a $2 million offer. Nonetheless, Perry and Till are cordial with each other.
A potential bare-knuckle fight with Till would do good business, particularly as there is a storyline. Perry and Till had a bloody sparring session when they were in the UFC. Times have changed since then. Perry is a big star in BKFC and a fan favorite. The UFC released Till after three consecutive losses. Moreover, he has not fought since then.
