Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner had another poor outing in front of the net in Game 2 against the Los Angeles Kings. After conceding 5 goals in the 2nd game of the first round series, he was replaced by Calvin Pickard. The fans of the Los Angeles Kings would then brutally troll him with “We Want Skinner” chants.
This year, the Oilers and the Kings are facing off for the 4th successive time in the first round series. In Game 1, the Oilers made a dramatic comeback and leveled it up at 5-5 very late in the game. However, with just then a minute left in regulation period, the Kings stuck again and won the first game 6-5 in dramatic fashion.
In the second game at the Crypto.com Arena, the Kings brushed aside the Oilers. They would score 6 goals in Game 2, with 5 of them coming against Skinner. The goaltender, who has experienced some tough moments this season, was a busy player on Wednesday.
Skinner faced 28 shots in Game 2 and managed to save 23 of them. However, after he gave up 5 goals, the Oilers decided to replace him with Pickard in the third period. The 33-year-old backup goalie also ended up conceding, making it a wonderful day for the Kings.
After Skinner was replaced by the team, the fans present inside the Crypto.com Arena took a wild shot at him. Chants of “We Want Skinner” broke out inside the arena.

Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch admits team made several ‘mistakes’ during Game 2 against Kings
After suffering a heartbreaking loss in Game 1, the Edmonton Oilers were hoping to make things right in Game 2 against the Los Angeles Kings. Things though, did not go as they would have hoped as the hosts ran out as 6-2 winners. Following the game, coach Kris Knoblauch admitted that the team made several ‘mistakes’ during this game.

In the post-match press conference after the game, the Oilers’ head coach expressed he did not see the Kings making any plays to beat them and claimed that his side gifted them opportunities.
I don’t necessarily see us, I don’t see L.A. making plays to beat us. Mistakes, gift-wrapping opportunities… I think it’s been mostly gaffes that have cost us.

One big issue for the Oilers so far is the penalty-kill situations. The reigning Western Conference champions were an NHL-best 94.3 percent in short-handed situations. In the two games against the Kings so far, the Oilers have conceded 5 goals in 10 powerplay situations.
How many times have the Edmonton Oilers overcome a 2-0 series deficit?
In the past few years, the Edmonton Oilers and the Los Angeles Kings have reignited their rivalry. This year marked their 4th successive meeting between these two sides. While the Oilers have won each of their last three series matchup against them, this time they find themselves in a troublesome situation.

Last year, the Oilers were 3-0 down in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Florida Panthers. They nearly pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in NHL history as they lost 2-1 in Game 7 after leveling the series at 3-3.
History is not on the side of the Canadian franchise. Only once have they successfully overcome a 2-0 series deficit or more. The one time they did this was in 2006 when they came back against the San Jose Sharks to win Game 3, 4, 5 and 6 and win the series 4-2.

The third game of this series will now take place at Rogers Place in Edmonton on Friday. A negative result from this game would mount even more pressure on Connor McDavid and his team.
