“Joke of a franchise” – Kings fire Mike Brown after team’s 5-match losing streak, fans react
After 5 consecutive losses in the NBA, the Sacramento Kings have parted ways with their head coach, Mike Brown.

Mike Brown
The 2024–25 NBA season has not been going well for the Sacramento Kings presently. Following a great start, many people expected the Kings to make a solid argument for a post-season berth this year. Nevertheless, they have not performed well lately; their most recent defeat was against the Detroit Pistons. This led to the sacking of their head coach, Mike Brown.
Brown guided Sacramento to its first post-season appearance since 2006 and was named Coach of the Year for 2023. However, a shocking 114-113 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Thursday encapsulated the Kings’ recent woes. They have not maintained significant leads, and they can’t concentrate on important details or make plays in the last few seconds.
Additionally, for the second consecutive game, the fervent home audience at Golden 1 Center jeered the Kings. After losing 4 consecutive games in the NBA, Brown was on thin ice and the 5th loss to the Pistons eventually sealed his fate as the Kings’ head coach. The Kings fans were left pondering over the decision but some seem to agree with it as well.

There is now a vacancy on the team due to the dismissal. Kings great Doug Christie will temporarily take over as coach in the interim. Since 2021, Christie has been a member of the team as an assistant.
The Sacramento Kings have not earned a “W” in their last five games and are presently ranked 12th in the Western Conference.
Fans chime in on Kings HC Mike Brown’s sacking
Just thirty-one games into his third NBA season, head coach Mike Brown was fired by the Sacramento Kings on Friday, December 27. When Brown was fired, he was leading a 13–18 start. Brown agreed to a $30 million, three-year contract extension in June. Only thirty-one games into his third season, he is now sacked. With no recognized replacement, the Kings fans will have to wait until the management appoints a new head coach. The Kings will play LeBron James‘ Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, December 28.
