Indian Cricket Team made headlines after they won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados on June 29. However, the final marked the end of the career of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja in T20I cricket. The final was also the last game for Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the Indian Cricket team.

Under him, India reached the semi final of the T20 World Cup 2022, the final of the ODI World Cup 2023, the final of the World Test Championship 2023 and won the T20 World Cup 2024. BCCI has already announced that the former India opener, Gautam Gambhir, will replace Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the Indian Cricket Team.

Gambhir moved to Kolkata Knight Riders from Lucknow Super Giants to take over the the role of mentor ahead of IPL 2024. Under him, KKR won the IPL 2024 trophy. However, as Gambhir is leaving for Team India, the post of mentor in the KKR team will be vacant. Now, as per reports KKR have contacted Dravid to feature as the mentor of the team.

Rahul Dravid has been a legendary player for Team India. The Wall of cricket has been phenomenal in his career as a batter for Team India. As the head coach of the U-19 cricket team, he helped in the growth of many young players and gifted the national team, players of the quality of Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant.

As the head coach of the senior team, his influence was commendable as he was an excellent manager. Dravid was cool and clam under pressure and rarely displayed his emotions publicly. The partnership of Rohit Sharma and Dravid worked wonders for Team India.

Under the captaincy of Dravid, the Indian Cricket Team was knocked out of the group stage in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in West Indies. 17 years later, in the same venue, Dravid as the head coach of Team India lifted the T20 World Cup trophy and marked his redemption. There should be no doubt that Dravid will be an extremely good mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
