KKR player banned for one match and fined 100% of his match fees after his repeated fierce send-offs!

Harshit Rana has been fined by the Indian Premier League for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct (Article 2.5 regarding send-offs). It occurred on 29th April, during Kolkata Knight Riders’ clash with Delhi Capitals. 

Harshit Rana had bowled Abhishek Porel and celebrated in a manner which the IPL Code of Conducts stated was an action to provoke. The pacer had pointed to the pavilion and attempted a blowing kiss, but pulled out at the last minute.

This isn’t the first time Rana has been fined for breaching Article 2.5. He blew a kiss to Mayank Agarwal at the start of the season and had a stare down, receiving a 60% fine on his match fees. 

This time he has received a 100% fine on his match fees. Along with that he has been suspended for one match. This means he will miss KKR’s clash against rivals Mumbai Indians, which will be played on 3rd May at the Wankhede Stadium. 

KKR have three other Indian pacers in their squad- Vaibhav Arora, Sakib Hussain and Chetan Sakariya. Arora is already a starter, which means either Hussain or Sakariya will play in Rana’s place. Sakariya has the upper hand thanks to his experience in the IPL and could play his first IPL match since May 2023. 

Harshit Rana’s performances in the IPL 

Harshit Rana has been one of the best Indian pacers in the IPL, with the pacer playing an important part in KKR’s successes this season. Debuting in 2022, Rana made his impact in 2023 when he broke into the team in the 2nd half of the season.

Currently Rana is KKR’s highest wicket taker, tied with Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine, with 11 wickets. His best figures came in his first match of the season, where he gave figures of 3/33 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
