India vs England 2021: “He is struggling for form” – Michael Vaughan says KL Rahul should be dropped for fifth T20I

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has stated that Indian opener KL Rahul should be dropped from the team for the fifth and final T20I that will take place today in Ahmedabad. The series is tied currently at 2-2 and the outcome of the match will decide the series. For India, the big worry would, as Vaughan mentioned, be the form of World No. 4 batsman and their star opener Rahul who has struggled for runs.
The right-handed batsman got out for scores of 0, 1, 0 and 14 in the ongoing series. He has also eaten up a plethora of balls during the course of his innings and his form has been the talking point of India’s batting in the series. Ahead of the final and most important T20I that will take place today, India will have a decision to make as to whether to continue with Rahul at the top of the order or replace him with Ishan Kishan who shone on debut.
Michael Vaughan on KL Rahul
Michael Vaughan spoke to Cricbuzz about the changes that India need to make for the final T20I. “KL Rahul doesn’t play, simple. You can’t look at this other than a one-off game and who is the best player at the minute, who is playing with the most clarity and confidence. Ishan Kishan will open the batting,” he said.
“For me, KL Rahul is not being thrown out of the team forever but at this stage he is not playing to the confidence, he is struggling for form, so Ishan Kishan will come in to open the batting with Rohit. More Mumbai Indians, there you go,” Vaughan added referencing his tweets on social media where he had stated that the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) was a better T20 team than India.
The fifth and final T20I will be played today in Ahmedabad.
