“About to lock you up”: Former NBA champion Mario Chalmers remembers Kobe Bryant’s text that baffled him

Recently former NBA champion Mario Chalmers revealed how Kobe Bryant startled him with a text message.
Rising out of a generational talent, Kobe Bryant, the ‘black mamba’ proved his competent ability during his young age. Grabbing this achievement early, fans compared Kobe Bryant with Michael Jordan back then. Being loyal to the Los Angeles Lakers and having expertise leadership skills, gained him a lot of fan following. But Kobe Bryant’s side kick had been the wagers and challenges he had with his teammates and opponents as well.
Kobe Bryant texted Mario Chalmers before the game
Recently the Miami Heat former champion Mario Chalmers revealed how Kobe Bryant targeted him once. He said, “My only conversation with Kobe was, ‘I’m about to lock you up’, he told me that when we played them. In the game I hit ten threes we played the dude, a week or two later, he was like, ‘oh now I gotta go out there and hit 11.’ I’m like, this is Kobe talking to me like anybody else, I’m like [happily surprised], okay!” Mario Chalmers joined the Heats back in 2008 and won the title alongside Dwyane Wade and LeBron James.
Mario Chalmers shifted to the Memphis Grizzlies back when Kobe Bryant texted him up. The then 29-YO received the text and was completely puzzled with the response he had to send. “He just texted me, he said, ‘the worst is behind you and the best is coming’… Just to say like, you went through the worst part of Achilles tear like you tore, now it’s just time to focus on getting better and keeping your spirits high. But like when he said this, I was like, who is this? I typed, who’s this? He said, ‘Bean’. I didn’t know nobody named Bean.“
He added, “I’m looking, it’s a Cali number. I’m like I know this, like Kobe Bryant texted my phone. Immediately I hit DWade, I’m like hey man, Kobe? He said, ‘Yeah I told Kobe to reach out to you just to…’, he said Kobe reached out to me, asked me for your number so he wanted to highlight.” Kobe Bryant completed his career at such a high note that can rarely be achieved. In this legacy, he has inspired generations and athletes yet to come.
