Four years have passed since the tragic passing of the great Kobe Bryant along with his daughter Gianna Bryant, but their memories still live on. While Bryant had retired from basketball, Gianna was preparing to be the next basketball player. But the passing of both brought the dreams to a stop. Recently, basketball fans saw a new star of the Bryant family preparing for the game.

Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa Bryant posted an Instagram story of her daughter Bianka Bryant with WNBA legend Candace Parker. Parker was seen mentoring young Bianka Bryant on her game, who handled the basketball just like her father during his playing days.

Look at the wrist loaded under the ball….On her toes….Basketball in her blood! #MiniMamba Aunty Candace is so proud of you BB and you too COACH @vanessabryant.

Candace Parker feels Kobe Bryant uplifted the WNBA

Many basketball players have graced the NBA, but only a few have left a lasting impact through their playing style or work ethic. Kobe Bryant was one of those who inspired and elevated everyone around him. While he is widely recognized for his influence in the NBA, he was also a significant supporter of the WNBA.

During a recent appearance on “NBA on TNT” Candace Parker heaped praise on Kobe Bryant and claimed that Bryant really helped in uplifting the WNBA. She mentioned that Bryant had the attitude of never giving up, and that despite whatever many championships were won, one should never stop.

We in the WNBA feel like Kobe was the person that uplifted our league, I think just in terms of him having his daughters and really teaching the game. I think that’s the biggest thing I learned from him. It’s like always continue no matter how many championships you have, how many games you win to want to learn and get better and study the game.

In 2020 the WNBA had created an award in honor of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna. It was called the Kobe and Gigi Bryant WNBA Advocacy Award.

The award is presented to an individual or group who has made a significant contribution to women’s and girls’ basketball. The inaugural winner of the award was Chris Paul. Basketball fans have witnessed Bryant’s impact not only in the NBA but also in the WNBA.
