Krunal Pandya came up with a quick-fire knock on his debut as he powered India to a good score from a position where things looked a bit precarious. The southpaw was earlier handed his debut after being called up to the national ODI team for the first time in his career. He received his ODI cap from brother Hardik Pandya before paying tribute to his late father by pointing to the skies with his cap.

Once the match began, it looked like Krunal wouldn’t be need to bat with Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli going strong. However, the duo’s dismissals and more quick wickets led to Krunal joining KL Rahul at the crease with more than a job at hand to take India past 300. However, the two played expertly well and went all guns blazing at the death to ensure India not only crossed 300 but reached 317.
