India vs England 2021: WATCH – Krunal Pandya gets emotional after receiving ODI cap from brother Hardik Pandya

Krunal Pandya was handed his debut along with Prasidh Krishna for the first ODI against England that is taking place today at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The two who received their maiden calls for the series were straightaway drafted into the playing XI following their excellent domestic performances over the years and especially in the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy.

India and England will play three ODIs in Pune. The next matches will take place on the 26th and 28th of March following which the players will disperse to their respective Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises for the tournament that begins on the 9th of April. Both teams would want to end the tour on a successful note – India to ensure they take all the series and England to ensure they don’t draw a blank.

Krunal Pandya was handed his debut ODI cap by his brother Hardik Pandya today and immediately after receiving it, the all-rounder was seen getting emotional, remembering his late father. The Pandya brothers’ father Himanshu Pandya had passed away in January after suffering a cardiac arrest.

The Indian players were seen congratulating Krunal Pandya as well as Prasidh Krishna on their debuts. Krishna was handed his cap by bowling coach Bharat Arun and was seen being enthusiastically congratulated by his Karnataka teammate KL Rahul.

The first ODI is currently underway in Pune.
