Having won the Test series 3-1 and the T20I series 3-2, all focus for India now will be on the ODIs following which the players will disperse to their respective Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises. The series thus provides a perfect opportunity for the Indian side to ascertain their position in the ODI format whose importance has dwindles as of late due to the World Test Championship final and the ICC T20 World Cup looming.
