On Monday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the Dallas Stars at the PPG Paints Arena. They conceded six goals in the first period itself and went on to lose 7-1 which led to speculations regarding a trade of Sidney Crosby. General Manager Kyle Dubas is open to trade everyone except for Crosby.
As per reports from Taylor Hasse of DK Pittsburgh Sports, Dubas had already spoken about the trades before this loss. With the Penguins 6-9-2 for the season in 17 games, it is likely that there could be some roster changes coming soon.
Following the loss on Monday night, several users on social media including Paul Bissonnette urged for Crosby to be traded. Dubas though does not want to do this. As per the report from Hasse, he has told the other teams in the league that “everyone is available except 87“.

Earlier this year, the Penguins re-signed Crosby for two more years an AAV of $8.7 million. During the negotiations with the team, he was promised by the ownership that the team would do better this season.
Last season the Penguins missed out on the Stanley Cup playoffs as they finished with a 38-32-12 record. So far, the Penguins have failed to live up to the promise they made as they are currently seventh in the standings with just 14 points in 17 games and have a -21 goal differential.
Kyle Dubas trades away Lars Eller to the Washington Capitals following a 7-1 hammering against Dallas Stars
A day after a hammering 7-1 loss against the Dallas Stars, General Manager Kyle Dubas traded away Lars Eller to the Washington Capitals. The Penguins shook hands with their division rivals to give Eller to free up some space on the roster and earned a 3rd-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft and a 5th-round pick from the 2025 NHL Draft.
The Pens picked up Eller from the Colorado Avalanche in 2023 on a $4.9 million contract. The veteran forward will now back to the Capitals with whom he spent seven years and even won the Stanley Cup in 2018.
Capitals GM Chris Patrick was happy to have the forward back on the roster. The executive claimed that Eller would add depth to the team in the critical center position.
The Penguins have acquired a 2027 third-round draft pick and a 2025 fifth-round draft pick (originally belonging to Chicago) from the Washington Capitals in exchange for forward Lars Eller.

Eller has so far picked up seven points with four goals and three assists in the season. His addition adds more firepower to the red-hot Capitals side who are currently 10-4-0 and third in the Metropolitan rankings.
As for the Penguins, how well will this move work out for them, will be interesting to see. The lack of experience in the center area could affect them unless Dubas and his management team can bring in someone to replace the void created by the trade of Eller.
