Things are going pretty badly for the Colorado Rockies. The National League side keeps on losing games and is going downhill fast. On Thursday, after getting swept in the doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers, pitcher Kyle Freeland emotionally broke down and left the press conference.
The National League West team currently has the worst record in the league at 6-31. All the other 4 teams in their division have 20 or more wins this season already. Winning games has been something that is difficult for the Denver-based team.
After two successive wins against the Atlanta Braves and the San Francisco Giants, the Rockies lost 4 games in a row before taking to the field on Thursday. With the game being a doubleheader, Kyle Freeland took the mound for Game 1.
Freeland was only able to pitch 3 innings and gave up 11 hits in that. The 5 runs he gave up saw the team end up losing the game with a 10-2 score. The Rockies then ended up losing 11-1 in the 2nd game of the day and were left with a disappointing 6-31 record.

During the press conference, a reporter would ask what his message would be to the fans following his poor start. The 31-year-old, who is 0-5 now after the Game 1 loss, choked up and just urged the fans to keep on believing in them.
Keep believing in us. Keep riding.
Kyle Freeland said
#Rockies have lost five games in a row and have dropped to 6-30 (.167), a 135-loss pace.

Kyle Freeland admits team are playing ‘bad’ baseball at the moment
The Colorado Rockies are not having the best of times during the 2025 season. The National League side lost their 6th successive game on Thursday after getting swept by the Detroit Tigers. Following Game 1, pitcher Kyle Freeland admitted that the team is playing ‘bad‘ baseball.

While the pitchers are struggling from the mound, the offense of the team has also gone down. The Rockies have the worst batting average in the league at .211. The also have the least number of hits with just 256 from the 37 games they have played.
Speaking in the press conference, Freeland expressed that whatever the team is doing was “wrong.”
What we’re doing is wrong. We’re not winning baseball games. It’s as clear as day. We’re playing a bad brand of baseball, all around, pitching, fielding, hitting. It’s bad.
Kyle Freeland told the reporters
Kyle Freeland deserves better. The players deserve better. We, as Rockies fans, deserve better. Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region love their team and want nothing more than winning baseball and consistent playoff runs. Unfortunately, the ownership does not care. Freeland joined the Rockies in 2014 as a draft pick. He broke into the team during the 2017 season. He became part of the team that reached the postseason twice in 2017 and 2018. In the last two years, he has been part of the Rockies team that has endured 2 successive 100-plus loss seasons.
Kyle Freeland and Rockies on pace for the worst record in MLB history
The loss on Thursday against the Detroit Tigers meant that Kyle Freeland and the Colorado Rockies have lost all 12 series this year. The team is now on pace for the worst record in MLB history.

When it comes to the worst record in MLB history, one does not have to look too far behind. Last season, the Chicago White Sox picked up over 120 losses and ended the campaign with a poor 41-121 record.
The Rockies are currently on pace for 135 losses. If things do not improve for the team, the unwanted record of most losses in a year that the White Sox hold, could go to the Rockies.

The Rockies’ next assignment sees them take on high-flying division rivals, San Diego Padres before going on the road against the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
