Since the playoff format was introduced the questions about the real value of championship has been a huge point of discussion in the community. The drama around it doubled in the 2024 season, after Joey Logano secured his third championship, by overcoming his average regular season performance with clutch runs in the playoffs.
Many in the community called for changes and tweaks to the format from NASCAR, owing to the racers like Kyle Larson and to an extent Christopher Bell failed to win the title, after a small drop in performance in the R-8, after a year of dominance. Now the Hendrick Motorsports champion has shared his feeling about the issues with the format.
Larson admitted that he believes the format devalues a championship and asserted that its has become more valid in the Next-Gen era. He pointed out that he likes to win the most races and the championship the same time. The Chevy driver feels that winning six races like he did in 2024 was really tough.
Kyle Larson wasn’t upset about losing the title
The championship loss was really disappointing for the Hendrick Motorsports driver. Even before the season finale, he was content with himself about how impressive their performance was and sees those race wins as important as the title win.
The comments from Kyle Larson shows he is okay about losing the 2024 title despite the strong performance as he understands they will have the opportunity to fight for it again. It would be interesting to see how the champion driver would perform in the coming years.
