Since its introduction in the 2022 Cup season, the Next-Gen car has been one of the most controversial topics of discussion in the racing community. The car though made teams more competitive and racing closer, it also made it more aggressive as well as less entertaining. The winningest driver of this era, Kyle Larson has good take on the matter.

Following his third win of the 2025 season, that came at Kansas Motor Speedway this Sunday, Kyle Larson addressed the controversy. He admitted that the drivers are as guilty as the fans in making the Next-Gen issue a huge controversy as they have been complaining about the 7th Gen machinery every other week.

I don’t read the media a whole lot, but I would say us drivers were part of the controversy because we were complaining about it just as much as everybody else.

Kyle Larson said via Motorsports.com.

The issues with this situation are the lack of consistency regarding the complaints, a word Kyle Larson isn’t that familiar with in in NASCAR as he always been among the most consistent competitors. The complaints often strops when there is a streak of good races and resurfaces as soon as there is one underwhelming day in the series.

I don’t know … it’s weird. Racing could totally flip this weekend. We could have the next three to five races be really exciting, and everybody’s forgotten about the boring races we’ve had before then.

Kyle Larson asserted.

It is just the product of basic human nature and the greed towards always having the best things. NASCAR has been working hard to find a tweak that can change the situation, without any major design changes and it is going to be a tough ask. If the sanctioning body listening more to the driver, will be a good start towards change.

I’m not sure, but I think we all would love to see better racing at every track and all that. We’re all greedy people. We’re humans. But yeah, just finding that solution, I think, is always tough.

Kyle Larson added.

Kyle Larson is getting ready to tackle two busy race weeks

The upcoming two weeks are going to be the busiest part of the 2021 Cup championships this year’s schedule. He will be trying to qualify for the Indy 500 with Arrow McLaren and then come back to North Wilkesboro for the All-Star race.

The very next week is more hectic, as it will feature the Indy 500 and the Coca Cola 600. He will have to spend most him at Indianapolis, complete the race there. Then catch a flight to Charlotte to race in the longest race of the NASCAR season.

His made his maiden attempt at double duty last season and everything went wrong. He missed out on a potential top-5 finish after a speeding penalty and missed out on the Coke 600 owing to a rain delay. So, he is focussed on executing two good weeks after Kansas.

It’s a cool win here at Kansas. and now we’ll try to execute two good weeks at Indy.

Kyle Larson said.

Everyone in the NASCAR garage is pulling for Kyle Larson to do well on Sunday, amidst all the difficulties regardless of their team alliance. It would be interesting to see how everything will playout for the veteran and his team.
