The 2025 NASCAR Cup finale witnessed a dramatic championship triumph from Kyle Larson, marking his second career Bill France Cup. He won upsetting his close friend Denny Hamlin, who had the most dominant car of the day that helped him to lead over 300 laps, by taking advantage of a strategy mistake from the veteran on the last lap of the race.
While some might claim that Kyle Larson won the title because he was fortunate, as without the caution he wouldn’t have won, the stats say another story. He had three wins, 15 top 5 finishes, 22 top 10 finishes, 1,106 laps led, and a 13.2 average finishing position, this year which make him the points leader at the end, hence the most deserving champion.
Braely two week in after the title win, which he recently celebrated Infront of his hometown, Elk Grove, Kyle Larson has already set his goals for the upcoming 2026 season. He admitted that the craziness he has been feeling regarding the triumph has slowed down and he is looking for the next opportunities.
I mean, I feel like the last week has been crazy with media and just everything that goes along with winning the championship. o it’s been nice to kind of soak that in through those experiences. But then now, as it’s kind of slowed down, and I would say this today would probably be the last sort of thing of celebrating the championship.
Kyle Larson told Frontstretch.
He pointed out that his mind has switched to the preparation for the 2026 season, which will mark his first title defence in the Next-Gen era. The veteran has moved on from the win and is more excited about the upcoming races he has in schedule. This shows the true racer mentality Kyle Larson possesses.
Your mind kind of already switches to next year, and you don’t forget about winning a championship, but at least, for me, you just kind of move on from it, and you’ll get excited about what’s upcoming for races for me, and then you get excited about next year and trying to repeat.

Kyle Larson was involved in a big wreck in his first race since Cup title win
The Hendrick Motorsports veteran made his first race start since the Cup season finale recently at Placerville. He raced in the iconic Hangtown 100, which is part of the USAC Midget racing series and things didn’t go as planed for the veteran.

Kyle Larson was in good form and he found himself leading the race in the closing laps, just before things went south. A poor move from Daison Pursley from behind resulted in the Chevy Cup driver crashing and landing upside down, fortunately with no injury. Talking about it, the veteran admitted it was bummer of an incident, but refused to criticize Pursley, pointing out the racer might not have meant to dump him.

We had a good car, a good race going. Daison must have built a run on the cushion behind me. Surprised me on entry to one, and then hit the grease, and I kinda had nowhere to go. So, yeah, just a bummer, but I mean, I get it, just because my entry was closed off, so he was going to have to pull the trigger right there. Just, oh well, I guess. I wish it wouldn’t have happened, I’m sure he wishes it wouldn’t have happened.

The incident and the comments from Kyle Larson show how much he respect the regional racers as well as the passion he has for motorsport. He will be more involved in the sprint car scene as the off-season progresses and it would be interesting to see how his preparation is going for the 2026 NASCAR season.
