Kyle Larson hints at a “beneficial” NASCAR playoff format change for the 2025 season
Hendrick Motorsports veteran Kyle Larson has shared a cryptic comment indicating some big changes to the playoff format.

The 2024 NASCAR season exposed the faults in the playoff system as Joey Logano won the championship, having the worst statics of any winner before him. He peaked at the right moment and won his way in all but one round in the playoffs while racers like Kyle Larson, who dominated the regular season failed to make an impact in the penultimate playoff round.
Now the 2021 Cup champion Kyle Larson is his appearance in the Race Industry Week talks, discussed his impressive season and the criticism of the format. He pointed out that though his point table position doesn’t show it, he had one of his best seasons ever in 2025 and is proud of the results he has had this year.
He then went on to share the expectations for the 2025 season and listed out his goals to evolve and win more races, dominating all other aspects of it. He then hinted at a supposed change to the playoff format that might benefit him, for being consistent in the regular season.

While earlier talking about how his season played out, he asserted that it was great year, and he is happy with his overall performance despite the disappointment at the end. He explained that he isn’t much down on himself over not making into the final four as he knowns it the product of the crazy format the series has.
The comments from Kyle Larson shows his confidence going into the 2025 season in him as well as his No:5 Hendrick Motorsports crew. If NASCAR tweaks the format to benefit consistent driver more, Larson would be the very first take advantage of it and it will be interesting to see what changes will be made for 2025.
