Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson had a strong race on Sunday at Dover. He started the race strong by climbing to P6 in stage one from P21 at the start and went on to win the next stage. But he failed to match the pace of Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin, who used air-blocking to his advantage on the final laps to secure the win.
After the race, which was more about drivers defending each other position over attacking the ones ahead of them, Kyle Larson pointed out that NASCAR has to remove the rear-view cameras from the car. He highlighted that as the camera’s replaced mirrors, it has become easy for drivers to use dirty air to ruin his rivals’ offensive moves.
He pointed out that unlike in the past with the mirror, it has become easy to spot where the attacking car is at and to block them effectively. So he wants the Camara’s to be removed as hindering offensive moves is really bad for the entertainment factor of racing as the events became just a game of track positions.
With the cameras in the car. You know, it's easy to air block. Honestly, like if they took the cameras out of the car, that's probably one of the little things I think that could fix it. You know, because it's hard to see out of the rear-view mirrors, but the cameras are so easy. So, I mean, I would be for it if they took the cameras out because, like I said, it's so easy.Kyle Larson said at Dover.

Kyle Larson highlights how Next-Gen cars are more suitable for defensive style racing
When asked about how the Next-Gen cars have made Cup racing more defensive, Kyle Larson pointed out that he agrees with it as defensive moves are made easy with cars. But he also highlighted how this has also made execution on pitstops and restarts much more significant as well.
Yeah, for sure. I mean, you see it a lot, a lot of places with the next-gen cars. So, yeah, I would totally agree with that. But it just makes executing that much more important. You know, good pit stops, good restarts, all the details to get yourself into that lead where you can play a little bit of defense and hold them off easy.Kyle Larson said.
The Camera and defense-oriented racing is something NASCAR has too investigate into as these significant factors that could make racing hard. It is fair to say from Larson that the rear-view mirrors should return as they add more challenging factor to racing.
