Carson Hocevar has emerged as one of the better drivers on the current NASCAR grid in only his sophomore year in the sport. While he has been unable to bring home the victory for Spire Motorsports, he remains a great contender for impressive finishes. Now, as Hocevar aims to establish his position in the championship standings and improve results, Kyle Petty labels the No.77 driver as an ’emerging superstar’.
Carson Hocevar‘s best result in his 2nd year of NASCAR is a runner-up finish at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, which caused a lot of backlash towards him. In the most recent Coke 600, Hocevar showcased a competitive race pace from the beginning and was on par to achieve a great finish. However, a late-race engine failure caused the No.77 driver to call it quits before finishing the race. Still, Kyle Petty doesn’t hesitate to applaud the Spire Motorsports star for his continued efforts.
Petty doesn’t hesitate to claim that NASCAR is now witnessing the emergence of a new superstar in the sport in Carson Hocevar. The ex-NASCAR driver recalled the Atlanta Motor Speedway and resonated with Kenny Wallace’s claim of Hocevar being the superstar. The 64-year-old pointed out that everyone was cussing out the No.77 driver for his tactics, but the latter remained firm and did not falter.
I think we’re seeing the emergence of a new superstar in this sport, I go back to Atlanta, everybody was cussing Carson Hocevar at Atlanta. …We heard it from [Ryan] Blaney, we heard it from a number of drivers who have won championships and won races.
Kyle Petty told said on the Kiss my Asphalt show.
Kyle Petty furthered his compliments and noted that Carson Hocevar not only proved his racing mettle but also that he could fight at the forefront. Moreover, Hocevar was also capable of racing clean and competitively with the common race winners on the grid. Petty wondered what would have happened if the Spire star did not suffer an engine failure at Charlotte.
Carson Hocevar showed that he can lead, he can run up front and he can race with these guys. He can race competitive and race clean with these guys. If not for a blown engine, we don’t know what could have happened because I think he would have been a factor at the end of the race.

Kyle Petty claims Carson Hocevar ‘deserves’ a long-term deal
Spire Motorsports recently provided William Byron with a contract extension amidst promising results. Carson Hocevar had received a multi-year contract whose expiry date is unknown. Still, Kyle Petty believes that amidst Hocevar’s improving pace, he deserves a ling-time contract with the team.

Kyle Petty reckons that if it were up to him and he called the shots at Spire, he would look into retaining Hocevar for the long run. Amidst Byron’s new deal, it is apparent that they can provide a good deal to the No.77 driver too. Hence, the 64-year-old asserted that Carson Hocevar deserves a new deal this year due to his results.
If I’m Spire [Motorsports], I’m signing him to a long, long, long-term deal, We know that William Byron just got a new deal, Carson Hocevar deserves a new deal.
Kyle Petty noted.Spire Motorsports still needs to find a lot of improvements in their results in order to make winning races a habit. Hocevar has kept up with results and is likely to put forth competitive results in the races to come as well. The No.77 driver deserves all the applause and even more amidst his positive results.
