Kyle Tucker has joined the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Thursday, reports emerged that he had penned down a 4-year, $240 million deal with the 2-time defending champions. He would later drop a 5-word message.
The 4-time MLB All-Star was one of the top names available in free agency this year. After being traded by the Houston Astros to the Chicago Cubs, Tucker spent one season with the NL Central side.
In 136 games in 2025, Tucker hit 22 home runs and had 73 RBIs while having a .266/.377/.464 slash line. Following the end of the season, he would turn down the qualifying offer from the Cubs and became a free agent.
His free agency saga started slowly as teams expected him to sign a long-term deal in the range of $400 million. In the past few days, the pace in his sweepstakes picked up as reports claimed that the New York Mets, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Dodgers were favorites to land him.
On Thursday, he joined the Dodgers. The former Astros star signed a massive $240 million deal with a net present value of $57.1 million, the highest offered to any player in the league.
The outfielder does have an opt-out clause after the second and third years. While $30 million of his salary will be deferred, he will receive a signing bonus of $64 million.

A staggering deal.
Following this development, he broke his silence. The American international, who turns 29 on Saturday, dropped a 5-word message in a post on Instagram, announcing his arrival at the Los Angeles-based side.

Tucker is now the latest big name to join the Dodgers this offseason through free agency after Edwin Diaz. The relief pitcher joined the NL West side on a 3-year, $69 million deal in December after opting out of his deal with the Mets and turning them down in free agency.
Mets suffer another major blow in offseason after Kyle Tucker joins Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers landed Kyle Tucker in a massive deal on Thursday. As the reigning champions celebrate their new signing, the New York Mets suffered another major blow in the offseason as they lost out on another target.

The 2025 offseason has not gone well for the Mets. They lost two of their top names in Edwin Diaz and Pete Alonso to free agency and traded away Brandon Nimmo and Jeff McNeil.
Earlier this month, they lost out on Tatsuya Imai. The team were first reported to have an interest in him. However, reports later emerged that they were never close to getting him.
Tucker was someone they were genuinely interested in. Recent reports suggested that the team was willing to give him a salary of more than $50 million per year.
As per MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Mets proposed a 4-year, $220 million deal to him. This would have seen him earn $60 million in the first 2 years and then $50 million in the last two. This deal did not have any deferrals as well.

In the end, Tucker chose the Dodgers over the Mets. Had he joined the Mets, he would have received a signing bonus of $75 million.

With Tucker now off the market, the Mets will have to turn their attention somewhere else. They could try to enter the sweepstakes for Bo Bichette. However, he is also seeking a massive deal and is reported to be eyeing an offer in the region of $300 million.
