The Los Angeles Dodgers have won the sweepstakes for Kyle Tucker. On Thursday, reports emerged that the outfielder had signed a huge 4-year, $240 million deal with the Dodgers, making him the latest marquee name to join them.
Tucker’s free agency saga had been one of the talking points this offseason. After spending the 2025 season with the Chicago Cubs, where he hit 22 home runs and had 73 RBIs in 136 games, he became a free agent.
For months, his free agency was moving very slowly. Several reports expressed that he was looking for a long-term deal. Some league executives believed that his market could go past the $400 million mark.
In the past few days, the New York Mets, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Dodgers emerged as the favorites to land him. Reports claimed that the Mets were willing to offer him a deal worth $50 million a year.
In the end, the 4-time All-Star picked the Dodgers as his next team. While the club is yet to confirm the deal, Tucker will play in LA next season.

As per reports, Tucker’s contract had an opt-out clause after years two and three. He will also have $30 million of his salary deferred.
According to Ken Rosenthal, the right-handed hitter will have a net present value of $57 million. This is the highest value of any player in the league, beating the $51 million record set by Juan Soto‘s $765 million deal with the Mets.
Net present value of Tucker’s deal will be $57M per season, beating Juan Soto’s previous record by more than $6M, sources tell The Athletic. Deferrals total $30M – $10M in each of last three seasons. First with deferred amount: @JonHeyman

Tucker, who turns 29 on Saturday, will also receive $64 million as a signing bonus. With his signing, the Dodgers could move him to right field while Teoscar Hernandez goes to the left and Andy Pages picks up the center field position.
Social media loses it after Kyle Tucker signs with Los Angeles Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ signing of Kyle Tucker caused a massive uproar among fans on social media. The LA-based side, who have caught several flak for signing big names, got blasted by the fans once again.

Many users on X expressed their disappointment with this and urged the league to implement a salary cap once again. One user wrote, “Just start the lockout,” while calling for a league-wide lockout due to the moves made by the team.

Earlier this offseason, the Dodgers splashed the cash to bring in Edwin Diaz. The 3-time All-Star pitcher would join the Dodgers instead of signing with the Mets, claiming that the NL West was a winning team, and thus he chose them.
LA Dodgers’ bid for three-peat gets stronger following addition of Kyle Tucker
After winning back-to-back championships, the Los Angeles Dodgers are eyeing a three-peat next season. Their bid for this has gotten stronger following the addition of Kyle Tucker to the team.

In December, they added Edwin Diaz to their team after he opted out of his deal with the New York Mets. Following the developments on Thursday, the team could have a potential lineup of Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Kyle Tucker, Will Smith, Max Muncy, Teoscar Hernandez, Andy Pages and Tommy Edman.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and Roki Sasaki will make up the pitching rotation. Ohtani will also be part of this as he is expected to pitch more next season. As for their closer, they will turn to Diaz in the bullpen.

In MLB history, there have only been 4 instances where a team has won the World Series in 3 or more seasons. The New York Yankees have done it three times (4-peat from 1936-1939, 5-peat from 1949-1953 and 3-peat from 1998-2000). The Athletics are the other team to have achieved this feat, winning 3 successive titles from 1972 to 1974.
