Manchester City captain Kyle Walker came under significant criticism as his side lost 2-0 to Liverpool. The defeat saw their rivals go nine points clear at the top and establish an 11-point gap between them and City.
Manager Pep Guardiola is currently going through his ‘worst’ run of form while the club is now in fifth position, behind Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Brighton. As Manchester City tries to recover from the loss, City’s trusted right back penned a solemn message to the fans on Instagram.
Aged 34, the Englishman has come under fire for his poor displays in City’s defeats. His ‘promise’ to the fans has enjoyed a positive reception among fans, with many even claiming that City will turn things around henceforth.
City plays its next game against an in-form Nottingham Forest, who recently claimed a 1-0 win over Ipswich Town.
Manchester City keeper hits back at Liverpool after ‘sacked in the morning’ chants
Manchester City’s crisis saw no end against Arne Slot‘s Reds as goals from Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo helped the Reds to an emphatic win. As the game came to a close, Liverpool supporters showed no mercy to City’s boss, who is under significant pressure to inspire a turnaround.
Supporters in the stands sang ‘sacked in the morning’, as the Spaniard coldly held up six fingers in response. In response to Guardiola’s reaction, City’s German keeper Stefan Ortega backed up his manager.

Ortega started over Ederson amidst criticism for the latter from fans and pundits alike. While Ortega let in three goals in his previous game against Feyenoord, the Brazilian has let in 25 goals from 16 outings, having only kept three clean sheets.
Guardiola, on the other hand, has made his peace with the incident, although he added that he didn’t expect it from the fans.
