Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City are having a difficult time right now this season. On Saturday, City were defeated 4-0 by Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium. Kyle Walker, the Manchester City captain, has issued a warning ahead of their clash with Liverpool at the Anfield next week.

Walker has faced severe criticism due to his lack of output and sharpness. In the game against Tottenham, Timo Werner caused him serious problems and showed a chink in City’s backline. The Englishman has now urged his teammates to turn around their season with a win against the Reds.

It’s a great game to turn it around and take three points from the team who sit above you. But we can’t put in a performance like that or we’ll get walked over. We have a Champions League game to prepare for that massive game on Sunday and keep within touching distance of Liverpool.

Walker also talked about the lack of cohesion in the defensive setup of the team. He stated that he is not concerned about scoring goals but is indeed concerned about the goals that his side is conceding.

Ange Postecoglou was surprised at how easily Tottenham beat Manchester City at the Etihad

Four-time defending champions Manchester City have always been the team to beat in the last four seasons. Before the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, they last lost a home league game against Brentford in 2022.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou talked about the tactic that helped them beat City at the Etihad. He wanted his players to get the ball quickly to his forwards to exploit the aggressive approach of the City players who like to defend man-on-man.

We knew we were going to have to defend at times. With Deki and Sonny out there I thought if we could get the ball to them early. City are pretty aggressive with their approach, they like to defend almost man-on-man because they’ve got outstanding defenders who like to defend man-on-man. With Dom [Solanke] there as well, we liked that set-up when we can get the ball to them early.

Ange Postecoglou said at the post-match press conference

City are now second in the Premier League table with 23 points from 12 games. They have won seven, drawn two, and lost three games this season. They will next face Liverpool at Anfield, who lead the table with 28 points from 11 matches.
