The Arizona Cardinals were just trying to stay afloat last season while Kyler Murray was on the sidelines. When he returned to the starting lineup, they managed to win three of their next eight games, with two of those losses being by single digits.

But Murray did all that despite having a below average receiver set. This season however, the major addition of Marvin Harrison Jr. has led Murray to hype up their chances.

After wrapping up OTAs, Kyler Murray was asked by ESPN reporter Josh Weinfuss on his new wide receiver’s progress in the team. The five-year pro had high praise for Marvin Harrison Jr.

I think that takes us to another level. When you got a guy out there that is capable of winning one-on-ones, obviously he's got to go do it and he knows that. We all know it, but as far as manipulating coverage and stuff like that, you got a guy out there that can do that and even if he's not open, he's open. I'm excited to be able to build that with him, but when he does what he does, yeah, I fully expect our offense to be top of the league.

That is some high praise from a quarterback who once threw the ball to a certain DeAndre Hopkins. Murray is aware that hyping something up too much might come back to bite him. But the way Marvin Harrison Jr. has seamlessly adjusted to the pros has been the talking point.

Generally, rookies go through an adjustment phase, the primary cause of which is a brand-new playbook after spending the past few years on a single one.

But Kyler Murray is happy with what he has seen so far. With training camp set to start in late July, it will be interesting to see how the two mesh in full contact training.

Kyler Murray and Cardinals have room to grow despite tough schedule

The NFL handed the Arizona Cardinals one of the toughest schedules for this upcoming season. Out of their first 10 games, they play playoff contenders nine times. That itself makes it tough for a team that will need wins to help the new additions build chemistry. It is important to note that most of their big off-season additions have come on the defensive side.

If head coach Jonathan Gannon can help the defense make strides, they could contend for wins against playoff teams. Otherwise, the team will need a few more solid pieces on offense. They will hope their draft picks develop into quality starters by the bye week, allowing them to regroup and aim to beat weaker teams down the stretch.

However, if Harrison Jr. beats the odds and builds a fantastic connection with Kyler Murray early on, the tide could turn. Which is why Kyler Murray is excited for the upcoming season.
