Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappe took to the pitch on Tuesday night as Los Blancos faced Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium. The club was in desperate need of a win in the UEFA Champions League, given its poor situation.
However, Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Jr. got on the scoresheet as the visitors pulled off a 3-2 win. The game burst into life in the 10th minute, when Real’s No.9 opened the scoring.
The Frenchman picked up the ball just outside the penalty area before beating his marker and finding the bottom left corner. Even though Atalanta equalized from the spot, the forward’s goal attracted a lot of praise on the internet.
At 25 years, 11 months & 20 days, Kylian Mbappé is the second youngest player to score 50 career UCL goals after Lionel Messi (24y, 284d).

Despite his commendable display, Mbappe was forced off the pitch with an injury. Carlo Ancelotti subbed off Mbappe for Rodrygo in the 36th minute.
Despite being brought off early, Mbappe’s goal meant that he became the second youngest player ever to reach the 50-goal milestone in the UCL after former PSG teammate Lionel Messi. Set to turn 26 on the 20th of December, Mbappe is only behind Messi, who reached 50 goals aged 24 years and 248 days.
Real Madrid claims important victory to become 18th in UCL
Carlo Ancelotti’s side was in trouble heading into the fixture against Serie A side Atalanta. The Italians were in splendid form, winning the last nine games in all competitions prior to the match on Tuesday.

Mbappe’s first goal was cancelled out by a Charles De Ketelaere penalty. With the first half ending 1-1, Madrid pulled away in the second stretch. Main man Vinicius Jr. pushed his side back into the lead with a controlled finish past Marco Carnesecchi.

Atalanta hadn’t recovered from the same as Jude Bellingham doubled his side’s advantage with an impressive solo finish. His control on the right wing and finish with his left after cutting inside took the game out of Atlanta’s reach.
Ademola Lookman‘s unbelievable near post finish proved to be too little, too late to stage a comeback. The win means that Real Madrid is now in 18th position in the League, with 9 points from 6 games. Real’s next game in the UCL is against RB Salzburg in late January.
