Kylian Mbappe has finally claimed what he has always been destined for – a mask! The France forward and captain picked up a ‘horrific’ injury against Austria where he suffered a broken nose. The player was eventually subbed off as he made his way out of the pitch with a bleeding nose. Shortly after the game, the France Football Federation issued an important statement regarding his fitness.

The medical team opted for the player to not undergo immediate surgery and rather wear a protective mask to facilitate his speedy recovery. Days after he sustained the injury, images of the player sporting his newly made mask have gone viral.

His availability is subject to his recovery and initial reports state that the player will miss the upcoming game against the Netherlands. However, pictures of the player in training ahead of the game has placed significant doubt on the same.

Didier Deschamps gives crucial info ahead of important game vs Netherlands

Everything is going very well following Mbappe's injury. He was able to do some light training and that will be the same today. We'll do everything to ensure that he'll be fit for the game.
Didier Deschamps said in a press conference

Mbappe is undoubtedly their best player and will surely come in handy against the Dutch. In another surprising revelation, it is understood that Mbappe won’t be able to wear his tricolor mask due to UEFA rules.

If Mbappe will not be included in the squad to face Netherlands, the greater share of carrying the attack will fall to Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud, who is most likely playing in his final major tournament for France. Les Bleus are currently second in Group D and a loss will put significant pressure on them to win their final game against Poland, and with the unpredictable nature of the tournament, qualification is not granted.
