On paper, Real Madrid have one of, if not the best, squads in Europe. The Los Blancos have brought in Endrick and Kylian Mbappe to a squad that already boasts Vinicius Jr., Jude Bellingham, and Rodrygo Goes. With the support of Arda Guler and Eduardo Camavinga behind, it is difficult to see how Carlo Ancelotti‘s men will be second-best to any side this season.
That being said, the club have largely underperformed in their first few games of the new season, picking up just one win in their first three games. Their most recent League outing against Las Palmas also ended in a frustrating draw, as Madrid needed a penalty in the 69th minute to pull level with their opponents. As has been the case in his last two games, Mbappe struggled to create chances and get involved in his team’s attacking movements.
A clip showed the Frenchman finding it difficult to get past his marker and eventually passing on the ball to his fellow teammate Vinicius. However, to add to the hilarity of the same, Vinicius also ends up conceding possession to his opponents.
Mbappe is yet to find the net after scoring in his side’s victory in the UEFA Super Cup. He became the player to take the most number of shots and not score in a La Liga game since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018.
Fans laugh at Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. as Los Blancos fall to fifth
Kylian Mbappe has been the centre of attention at Real Madrid ever since the Frenchman signed for the European giants. However, his initial struggles haven’t been received with much excitement, as a supporter commented that La Liga will expose the forward. Another added that even Diego Conde (a goalkeeper) has more goal contributions than the No. 9.
A supporter laughed at how Mbappe has been hacked more times than he’s scored or assisted, pointing to how the player’s X handle was hacked a few days ago. Another compared him to Julian Alvarez, who is also on zero goals and assists after his blockbuster move from Manchester City.
Despite all the criticism, it remains to be seen whether Mbappe will actually struggle at his new club. Despite his initial difficulties, it is important to look back at his ridiculous goal scoring record while at Paris Saint-Germain. Madrid will take on Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu in a few days before facing Real Sociedad away after the International break.
