Well, there have been debates on numerous occasions on who is a better match-winner- Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland. It is a tough call as every fan will have his/her opinion. Both possess different style of play tactically, technically as well as temperamentally. It is tough to come to a conclusion of who is a better match-winner as both are equally talented and skilful. There have been opinions that Mbappe is slightly better in terms of winning a game on his own as Haaland plays for a relatively mediocre side (Borussia Dortmund FC) as compared to Kylian Mbappe who plays for Paris St Germain.

Mbappe took the footballing world by storm when he scored 2 goals in both legs (1 goal each in both legs) in the round of 16 encounter in the 2017 Champions League against Manchester City. Watching a player just 18 years of age playing with such confidence and showcasing brilliant footwork combined with his electric footwork against a side who is a heavyweight of not only English football but also European football was simply amazing. The teenage sensation helped AS Monaco qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League and since then hasn’t looked back. Mbappe has scored 23 goals in 28 games so far in the Ligue 1 season with 7 assists to his name.

The former AS Monaco player has looked in prime form so far this season in the Champions League also, scoring 8 goals in 9 games. The 22-year-old has already scored 105 goals in 156 games in his club career and 16 goals in 42 games playing for France. The striker has mesmerized the opposition with his speed and sensational finishing. Mbappe has showcased terrific counter-attacking ability during open play. The French international showcased his class in the 2018 World Cup helping his side win the trophy. On the other hand, if we talk about Erling Haaland, his skills vary from Mbappe but the Norwegian too has proved to be penetrative in front of the goal like Mbappe and has looked proficient in scoring from different angles positioning himself smartly inside the box with his creative sense. Haaland has this knack of setting up goals with his clever decision making.

Haaland has scored 21 goals in 24 Bundesliga games so far this season with 5 assists to his name. The Borussia Dortmund FC striker has looked in spectacular goal scoring form scoring 10 goals in 8 Champions League games so far this season. Haaland has netted 85 goals in 127 games so far in his club career and has scored 6 goals in 10 games playing for his national side. The 22-year-old is a swift mover during set-pieces and can pounce on the opposition’s mistakes with his reach and aerial duels. Although the youngster hasn’t played enough games for Norway it’s only a matter of time before fans would see him dominate the sport in the future.

Both players possess different skill sets and are gifted with some wonderful technique. Still, both players are quite young and have a long way to go in terms of brushing their skills, gaining experience, further improving their technical sense, showing maturity and adaptability during pressure situations. Obviously, fans will have their own opinions and we can reach a conclusion of who is a better match winner only when both players hang up their boots at the fag end of their careers as it’s too early to predict their individual greatness as both are relatively young.
