Paris Saint-Germain’s main man and soon-to-be Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe had a night to forget against German side Borussia Dortmund. The French striker had a rather poor performance for his standards, as he managed to hit the target just once over 90 minutes. His performance mirrored that of his side as the Parisiens struggled to create and convert their chances.

A frustrating evening ended in the Germans taking home a one-goal advantage into the second leg. While Kylian Mbappe took center stage in the quarter-final against Barcelona with a brace, his muted performance vs Dortmund has called for harsh criticism on Football Twitter. His 8 goals in the UCL (joint-highest) were unable to save him as fans slammed him for going ‘missing’.

Mbappe’s best chance of the game came in the early minutes of the second half, when he attempted a curled shot into the far post. To his dismay, his shot hit the post and deflected back into the pitch.

Borussia Dortmund too much to handle for ‘wasteful’ PSG side as Kylian Mbappe gets trolled on social media

Paris Saint-Germain were a shadow of their usual selves as Borussia Dortmund appeared to be stronger side from start to finish. The semi-final featuring the two sides sparked into life at the very start when Dortmund made it clear that PSG wouldn’t have an easy night.

Jadon Sancho, Niclas Fullkrug and Julian Brandt all combined to make sure that PSG had no way back into the game. A 35th minute grounded strike from Fullkrug skidded past Gianluigi Donnarumma to make it 1-0 for the hosts. A resolute Donnarumma kept out subsequent attempts from the home side.

A fan commented that Kylian Mbappe is the real fraud that no one talks about. Many pointed out how despite his reputation, he often goes ‘missing’ in important games.

Another chipped in, claiming that he had no right to compete with Erling Haaland in this regard and that he should take the ‘ghosting’ allegations seriously. Fans of the player defended him, saying that PSG wouldn’t be in the semi-final if it wasn’t for the No.7!
