The crowd welcomed his chant with a huge roar as they dreamt of all the possibilities for the club in next season. Mbappe joins Madrid after running down his contract with Paris Saint-Germain in June. He will join a packed squad that features the likes of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo Goes and Arda Guler.

Kylian Mbappe claims that he ‘never wanted’ No. 10

Ever since Kylian Mbappe was linked to Real Madrid, rumors surrounding his kit number had surfaced on social media. From assuming that Luka Modric will leave the club to the player accepting another number, fans had all sorts of assumptions ahead of his unveiling for the club. As Mbappe officially accepted the No.9 from Florentino Perez, fans were reminded of how Ronaldo donned the same number in his maiden season with the club.

I never said I wanted Luka Modric's number. I'm honored to play with Modric. He's a champion, a Ballon d'Or winner and I respect him so much.

Modric, aged 38 chose to extend his stay at Madrid for atleast one more season. His midfield compatriot Toni Kroos called time on his professional career at the end of the season.

While many believe that Mbappe will ‘struggle’ to fit in a front line that features Bellingham, Vinicius and Rodrygo, the player himself is willing to adjust his style of play to suit the team. Mbappe assured that he can operate out of a variety of positions and will do his best to implement Carlo Ancelotti‘s plans.
