Kylian Mbappe was from his usual brilliant self as Paris Saint-Germain bowed out of the Champions League in the most frustrating fashion possible.
The forward failed to convert any of his chances over both the legs and was directly responsible for his side not going level with Dortmund. As fans started a discourse on his performance in the semi-final, some couldn’t help but criticize his play.
Mbappe is undoubtedly one of the best talents in the sport. The 25-year-old has already scored 255 goals for the Parisiens and is on course to win yet another Ligue 1 Golden Boot.
Many even consider him to be the ‘rightful’ heir to the throne shared by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. However, after last night’s display, many have started to question whether the forward really does live up to the hype.
Mbappe’s best chance of the game came in the second half, when the ball dropped to him in front of goal. His shot was however saved by Dortmund keeper Gregor Kobel, forcing the ball to hit the crossbar and go out for a corner.
Despite Mbappe’s unbelievable talent, the 25-year-old is yet to win the Champions League. Will he finally win one at Real Madrid remains a debate for next season.

Imagine the plight of a Paris Saint-Germain supporter! Despite boasting the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and Gonçalo Ramos in their line-up, Paris failed to bag a single over both legs.
After the disappointing exit, many have begun to cast doubts on Kylian Mbappe‘s ability. Some even opined that the player will never win a Ballon d’Or in his lifetime!
Another said that fans should put an end to claims that he’s just as good as Messi and Ronaldo when it comes to scoring goals. Looking back at his performance, fans also commented that his mind was already at the Santiago Bernabeu during the semi-final. After the exit, some felt that Mbappe’s getting on the first flight to Madrid.
Fans also pointed to how Mbappe had a chance to grab a consolation goal for his team, but slipped at the last moment as he was through on goal. As the dust settles and Mbappe makes his way to Spain, supporters can only hope that his fortune will take a turn for the good next season.
