Defending champions Real Madrid picked up their first win in La Liga on Sunday night. The Los Blancos manufactured a 3-0 win over Real Valladolid as Federico Valverde, Brahim Diaz and Endrick registered their names on the scoresheet.
Despite the win, fans were disappointed to see Kylian Mbappe ‘struggle’ in front of goal and fail to register a goal contribution. Although it is too early to assess Mbappe’s time with the champions of Europe, the forward has not lived up to expectations in his first three games for the club.
Mbappe led the attack for Carlo Ancelotti‘s side as Madrid hosted Valladolid. Although Valverde gave Real the lead from a stunning free-kick aimed at the bottom-right corner, fans were disappointed that the Frenchman was not involved in the same.
Real pulled away in the final minutes of the game through Brahim Diaz before substitute Endrick came on to seal the deal. To make things ‘worse’ for Mbappe, it was he who was subbed off in the 86th minute to accommodate the Brazilian. As of now, Mbappe has taken 10 shots while creating a total of zero chances during his time at the club.

While Endrick became the third-youngest Real Madrid player to score a goal in La Liga, Kylian Mbappe still finds himself with none. A fan commented that Paris Saint-Germain sent Madrid the ‘wrong’ Mbappe, comparing him to the goal scoring talent he was while in Ligue 1. Another added that Mbappe’s €0 price tag started making sense now.
A rival fan stated that Endrick has done more for Madrid since both players signed for the club. Amidst all the criticism, a fan added that it was still too early to make an assessment of how Mbappe will fit into Carlo Ancelotti’s side. The player took four shots at goal throughout the game, with one falling to find the target.
Looking at Mbappe’s initial struggles at the club, a supporter mentioned how effortlessly Erling Haaland started firing on all cylinders in his early days under Pep Guardiola. Despite the win, Madrid are fourth in La Liga, two points behind rivals FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Madrid take on Las Palmas on Thursday, before hosting Real Betis a few days later.
