Despite pulling off a blockbuster move to Real Madrid ahead of the Euros, Kylian Mbappe is reportedly not done with Paris Saint-Germain! The French forward is currently with France at the Euros and will only be revealed as a Madrid player after the tournament. Recent reports state that the player is set to go head-to-head with his former team for unpaid wages in the final months of his career.
Mbappe’s PSG contract runs until June 30th, with the club contractually obliged to pay the player his wages till then. However, it is understood that the club haven’t paid his wages for the months of April, May or June. In total, the club owes Mbappe €100 million in wages, and the issue must be resolved before the end of his contract.
Things went sour between the player and the club at the start of the 2023/24 season when he opted not to sign a contract extension. As of now, Mbappe left the club as a free agent after running down his contract with the Parisians.
Mbappe was isolated from the first team and was even told that he would not play a single minute of the season. He was, however, gradually eased back into the squad by head coach Luis Enrique.
Kylian Mbappe given ‘reality check’ by FC Barcelona legend
Real Madrid announced the signing of Kylian Mbappe with a grand video over a fortnight ago. The reigning La Liga champions and UCL winners added one of the best players in the world to an already star-studded line-up of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr. and many more. However, as Carlo Ancelotti tries to find a way to fit the Frenchman into an already packed squad, former FC Barcelona boss Louis van Gaal shared his take on the situation.
Ahead of the move, several football pundits and footballers went on the record to state that Kylian Mbappe will have to accept his reality as a contributor rather than Madrid’s main man. It is also true that the player will have to adjust to the ‘egos’ and internal dynamics at his new club. Van Gaal feels that Mbappe will have to realize that Don Carlo will be a more important figure than him at the club!
I think the coach is more important than any star. Madrid have the best coach in the world and will be able to manage Mbappe's arrival.Louis Van Gaal told El Periodico
The former Manchester United boss also claimed that La Liga is the best League in the world and that Madrid has a great President in Florentino Perez. Van Gaal also praised the technical and tactical level in Spain.
