The Los Angeles Angels made a surprising move on Wednesday. As per reports, they signed former MLB All-Star Tim Anderson on a one-year minor league deal.
As per Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the nine-year MLB veteran will get a chance to make it to the Angels Opening Day roster. The shortstop and second baseman will try to revive his major league career with the experience of coach Ron Washington on his side.
Last year, the former American League batting champion joined the Miami Marlins on a one-year $5 million deal. This came just a month before Spring Training began, giving hopes that Anderson could become a top member of the team.
The Marlins though did not have a good start to the 2024 campaign. Anderson, who had hit just 1 home run in 123 games in the 2023 season, struggled to make a mark on his new team.
The 31-year-old played just 65 games for the Marlins last year. He was released from his deal in July after he recorded just 9 RBI and had zero home runs through 50 hits. Since then, he was without a team until now.
The Los Angeles Angels have picked him up on a minor league deal. Though he is not guaranteed to be part of the 26-man roster, Anderson does have a chance to revive his MLB career with this move.

Only time will tell whether Anderson will be able to bounce back with the Angels or not. The team will also look to bounce back from the disappointments of last year.
After going 73-89 in the 2023 campaign, the Angels had another down year in 2024. They almost lost 100 games as they went 63-99 and finished bottom of the American League West standings.
