Sunday turned out to be an eventful day in the MLB free agency market. While all the spotlight was stolen by Juan Soto, there were some other deals too. In one deal, the Los Angeles Dodgers reportedly agreed to re-sign veteran reliever Blake Treinen on a 2-year $22 million deal.
The 36-year-old has been a key member in the Dodgers bullpen. After joining them in 2020, he has achieved World Series success on two occasions with the team.
While injuries have played a major part in his tenure with the Dodgers, the right-handed pitcher has come up with some big performances for the team. This postseason, he once again showcased his skills as he got the Dodgers out of some troubling situations.
In the last four seasons, he has compiled a 2.29 ERA with nine saves in 159 appearances from the bullpen. Apart from that, Treinen has managed to pick out 169 strikeouts in 149 2/3 innings in the regular season, making him one of the top relievers in the MLB.

As per reports from Jeff Passan of ESPN, this $22 million deal is the largest contract Treinen has ever landed in his 10-year MLB career. He began his time in the major leagues while playing for the Washington Nationals before being traded to the Athletics.
Following a three-year stay in Oakland, where he collected 67 saves, Treinen became a free agent. He was then picked by the Dodgers. With several Dodgers stars becoming free agents this offseason, Treinen was one of the players they desired to re-sign the most.
Dodgers pick up former SF Giants star Michael Conforto on one-year $17 million deal
The Los Angeles Dodgers made two deals on Sunday. Before re-signing Blake Treinen, the team picked up former San Francisco Giants star Michael Conforto. The team has signed the outfielder on a one-year $17 million deal.
The 31-year-old has spent the last two seasons with the Giants after missing out on the 2022 season through a right shoulder injury. In the 2024 campaign, he had a slash line of .237/.309/.450 while hitting 20 home runs and having 66 RBI.
He is the fourth move the Dodgers have made in the offseason after signing Blake Snell, extending the contract of Tommy Edman, and re-signing Blake Treinen.

His deal also comes at a time when the Dodgers are looking to re-sign Teoscar Hernandez as well. While recent reports suggested that a reunion between the two parties is getting closer, the New York Yankees have emerged as one potential candidate for him.
However, as per Mark Feinsand, the deal with Conforto will not have any effect on the talks regarding Hernandez. The Dodgers are still viewed as favorites to land the 2024 Home Run Derby champion.

It now remains to be seen when the Dodgers reach an agreement with Hernandez. With the loss of Juan Soto to the Mets, the Yankees could make things interesting by entering in the race for the 32-year-old slugger.
