On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers suffered another crushing defeat. The reigning World Series champions lost 6-5 to the Los Angeles Angels and ended up getting swept in the 3-game series against their city rivals.
The Dodgers have been on a downfall in recent months. Following a strong start to the campaign, the team has suffered a skid in form and dropped several games.
After losing 7-4 on Monday, the Dodgers lost the Freeway season series for the first time since 2019. A day later, the Angels mounted a late comeback and walked off in the 10th inning as 7-6 winners.
Wednesday’s action saw Shohei Ohtani take to the mound for the first time as a pitcher against the Angels. While he had an impressive showing against Mike Trout (whom he struck out twice), he ended up giving up 4 runs in 4.1 innings.
The highlight moment from this game came in the bottom of the 8th inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, Logan O’Hoope managed to lift the ball in the center field for a base hit. This allowed the Angels to drive in 2 runs and take a 6-5 lead.

The Dodgers were unable to respond in the 9th inning and ultimately came up on the losing end. This turned out to be their 4th consecutive loss, leaving them with a 68-53 record.

The defeat on Wednesday also means that the Dodgers have been swept by the Angels again this year. Dating back to last season, the Dodgers have now lost 7 successive games against the Angels.
Social media reacts to the Dodgers getting swept by Angels again
The Los Angeles Angels continued their dominance over the Los Angeles Dodgers this season with another win on Wednesday. The AL West team completed a second sweep of their rivals this year with a 6-5 win.

While the Angels fanbase celebrated this win with huge cheers, the Dodgers fans were left fuming on social media. Many of them took a swipe at the management of their team and urged for some changes. One user wrote, “Fire Dave Roberts“, while taking aim at manager Dave Roberts and the team’s front office.

This series sweep of the Dodgers marked the first time they had been swept by the Angels at Angel Stadium in over 18 years. The last time the Angels swept their LA rivals at their home stadium was in May 2007.
Dodgers lose out on possession of 1st place in NL West standings following series sweep against Angels
The Los Angeles Dodgers lost their 4th straight game on Wednesday as the Los Angeles Angels completed another series sweep of them. Following this loss, the Dodgers lost out on possession of 1st place in the NL West Standings.

While they were getting dominated by the Angels, the San Diego Padres were crushing the San Francisco Giants on the other side of the country. The Padres took down their division rivals 11-1 on Wednesday and completed a 3-game series sweep of them.
