Despite having a run-of-the-mill start to his main roster journey, LA Knight didn’t lose steam. After slogging for almost a couple of years, The Megastar rose like a phoenix at SummerSlam. On the show, Logan Paul went swinging at Knight before the match even began. However, The Megastar got his pound of flesh quite comfortably.

After a mini-jousting at ringside, the action returned to the ring. The bell rang, and the match was underway. Despite being a local, the US Champion was heavily booed by the Cleveland crowd. Both men went back-and-forth pretty hard. Paul did all the mockery he could to ridicule LA Knight‘s shtick. But the latter came prepared for everything Logan threw at him.

Adding a new wrinkle to his game, the former Eli Drake executed a top-rope elbow drop on his opponent. But the champ kicked out. Soon after that, Logan Paul oozed athleticism when he put away LA with a moonsault on the outside.

The former Max Dupri then kicked out despite enduring a KO punch from the social media megastar. Back at the ringside, Knight laid waste to an outspoken entourage of Paul. Machine Gun Kelly, who was also in Logan’s camp, handed the 29-year-old brass knuckles.

Logan even connected on LA with those knucks. Despite that, the former TNA Champion countered a buckshot lariat from the IMPAULSIVE host. At the end, the 41-year-old dethroned Paul for the United States title courtesy of a Blunt Force Trauma.

And just like that, Knight has his first singles title in WWE. Last year at SummerSlam, he won a Slim Jim battle royal. And this year, he turned it around by upsetting The Maverick in front of his own people. This finally puts an end to Paul’s lackluster title reign, which had only three defenses in 273 days, including this one. It would be interesting to see if they get to have a rematch or not.

Where does LA Knight go following historic win at SummerSlam?

An obvious way to proceed would be to have a rematch. However, considering Logan Paul‘s part-time schedule, it might not be feasible. And, there’s enough ammunition on SmackDown for LA Knight to cash on.

There are a ton of first-time-ever matchups the fans could witness for the US title. Names like Andrade, Carmelo Hayes and more would assert their claim for a crack at LA’s newly won gold. The possibilities are just endless at this point.

A few days ago, Knight admitted that the WWE Universe still doesn’t rate him as much as other top babyfaces in WWE. In that candid conversation with Cody Rhodes, The Defiant One said he’s close to break that ceiling. And after his coup at SummerSlam, he has definitely taken a major stride in that direction.
