With WWE’s $5 billion worth foray into Netflix to stream Monday Night Raw for the next decade, the fanbase is quite optimistic about the potential crossovers that’d come along. Former United States Champion LA Knight recently spoke to Metro about featuring in any sort of a spin-off on the OTT platform. At first, the 42-year-old raved about doing a comedy show.
However, for someone as green as him in this realm, Knight said it’d be better to take it easy on himself and dip his toes in action-drama instead. Be it a miniseries or even a quick little movie. Upon being asked by the outlet whom he would like to work with, The Megastar smirked before naming Sydney Sweeney.
Even though he’s not actively chasing an acting gig, he wouldn’t say no if the opportunity presented itself, quipped Knight. Sweeney first rose to prominence after starring in the 2018 Netflix series, Everything Sucks! One can only imagine how fun an on-screen pairing of Sweeney and Knight would be if they were cast together for any futuristic project on Netflix.
But right now, the former Eli Drake is hustling as a mid-carder on SmackDown. The Maryland native hit a career high last year when he beat Logan Paul at SummerSlam to capture the US title. After a 119-day reign, The Defiant One succumbed to Shinsuke Nakamura at Survivor Series: WarGames.
This week on SmackDown, Knight got his rematch. Just when it seemed like he was about to win, Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga barged in to cause a DQ. They went right after Knight, as the latter had thrown Fatu out of the arena in a backstage ambush earlier on. That came to bite The Megastar, who’d feel he messed up big time.
LA Knight aims big after having a breakout 2024
In 2024, LA Knight won his first major title on the main roster. It helped him add something under his resume. But it doesn’t seem like someone as ravenous for glory as him would be content with that.
With the new year in effect, the man oozing an outspoken charisma is eyeing a spot at the top of the food chain in WWE. He’s expected to declare himself for the 30-man Royal Rumble match slated for next month.
A win there will ensure a direct entry ticket to WrestleMania 41. After that, the erstwhile Max Dupri could compete for either of the world titles currently resting around Cody Rhodes and Gunther‘s waists.
At WrestleMania XL, Knight ousted AJ Styles to shine in his debut at The Show of Shows. It’d be interesting to see if he manages to pull off something even better in Las Vegas.
