La Liga: Carlos Soler scores a hattrick as Valencia humiliate Real Madrid
Valencia vs Real Madrid

Real Madrid slumped to a 4-1 defeat against Valencia in La Liga. The loss pushed Real Madrid down to fourth place in La Liga. Although, Madrid got the first goal of the match through Benzema, it proved to be a mere consolation in the end. Moreover, Real Madrid gifted the win to Valencia by conceding three penalty kicks and an own goal through Varane. Carlos Soler duly converted all the three penalties and got a hattrick in the process.

First Half

Benzema

Real Madrid dominated the early proceedings of the match and got the goal in the 23rd minute through Benzema. The player hit a wonderful strike from outside the box into the top corner. However, Valencia got a chance to equalize from out of nowhere as Vazquez handled the ball inside the box. Carlos Soler stepped and scored for Valencia to make it 1-1. Valencia weren’t done as they got another through a Varane own goal from a Maxi Gomez cross. Varane tried to clear the ball but ending up looping the ball into his own net to give Valencia the lead.

Second Half

Valencia continued to torment Real Madrid in the 2nd half and got the third goal. Marcelo was the culprit this time as he fouled Gomez inside the box and Soler stepped up to convert the penalty. Ramos gifted another penalty to Valencia on a horrid night for Madrid as he hit the ball away from Musah using his hand. Soler wrapped up the match and his hattrick with another penalty to make it 4-1.

Zidane was very disappointed with his team and said, “We started the game well, the first half hour, after the goal we dropped off and changed the dynamic. That could be a problem. Then a bit of everything happened, we had the three penalties, an own goal. Today it’s difficult to understand our game. We started well and after they equalized, everything changed.”
